History of Christmas Gifts

The Christmas gift comes from the early 19th century, when storing food in the long winter months is not so easy. It was a custom in some parts of the peasantry for people to go door by door to farmers and wish all the farmers families a Merry Christmas. In return they usually got food and drinks. The servants and maids were given, for example, hot chocolate or bread, baked with raisins and almond paste.

Christmas Gifts Tip 1: choice for employees

Christmas Gifts can be categorized in themes. But you can also give your employees the opportunity to choose their own gifts. This concept (where employees choose gifts themselves via the Internet) dates back from 1999. In 2007 about 30% of the employees picked out their own Christmas gift. In addition, many companies start with traditional Christmas hampers to compensate for the decline in sales of traditional package.

Personally I think it's a good thing to give your employees the freedom to choose a Christmas Gift they actually like. Think about all the gifts and goods people throw away because either they don't like it or all the food products disappear into the basement where they expire. That's a shame, especially considering that there's people on the other side of the world fighting for their life for the food one would throw out of let expire. Food for thoughts right?

Christmas Gifts Tip 2: Get discount, order early!

With a lot of kerstpakketten suppliers you'll get a large discount when you order your christmas gifts way in advance. That's quite convenient when you're an early bird decider!

So there's no need to stand in huge queues at wall mart, k-mart of zears. You can just order your christmas gifts online these days. Quick, easy and there's lots of choice. Usually a lot more than in a regular store.

Christmas Gifts Tip 3: Give a Christmas Tree!

Rumor has it that there's services around that rent out Christmas Trees. How cool is that? To give your employees a (fake) Christmas tree which can be re-used again. That's good for the environment and it doens't take up storage space for your employees. These ordered-in Christmas Trees come with garments included! The Christmas balls and other decorations will be supplied as well. Isn't that convenient for your employees? So if you ask me...that would be my choice this year!
